For over 50 years, the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program has been a cornerstone of maternal and child health. It offers vital support through the provision of nutritious supplemental foods, comprehensive nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and support, and referrals to essential healthcare and social services. WIC serves expectant and postpartum individuals, infants, and children up to the age of 5 who are nutritionally vulnerable.
The Lundquist WIC Program operates across 11 locations in South Los Angeles, serving over 60,000 participants each month. Our evidence-based approach to nutrition education, counseling, and support has yielded significant positive outcomes, including a reduction in premature births, infant mortality, and instances of low birth weight. Moreover, preventative healthcare practices and the overall dietary quality of both parents and children have noticed a noticeable improvement.

Critical services offered by Lundquist WIC include:

  • Comprehensive nutrition education
  • Breastfeeding/chestfeeding guidance and support
  • Issuance of a CA WIC benefits card for the purchase of healthy foods
  • Access to child development specialists
  • Provision of diapers
  • Referrals to community resources

We deliver our WIC services through in-person and telephone appointments, and video conferencing.
