Facilitating Integration of Evidence-Based Practices with WIC Services for Medical Providers

The Women, Infants, Children (WIC) nutrition program is dedicated to fostering optimal nutrition and health for pregnant individuals, new mothers, and children up to age five. WIC extends its services to partners, grandparents, foster parents, and guardians caring for eligible children.

Comprising a multidisciplinary team, WIC includes Registered Dietitians (RDs), degreed nutritionists, health educators, Certified Lactation Educators, Certified WIC Nutrition Assistants, and breastfeeding peer counselors. Notably, California WIC has achieved enrollment of 65% of eligible individuals and serves 53% of all residents in California who have recently given birth.

To facilitate seamless enrollment of your patients in the WIC program, we kindly request that you ensure they bring a completed referral form to their initial or renewal appointment.
