Chief, Policy and Public Affairs
Victoria Valdez holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Public Health from Yale University. This formal education in social welfare problems and social policies within a social context led her to focus on maternal and child health promotion and public policy. Victoria is rooted in community work and has devoted her professional career to public health and service.
Victoria brings over 30 years of committed service to the Lundquist WIC Program and a wealth of experience. Her background includes site management and supervision, policy implementation, WIC Program Integrity activities, Continuous Quality Improvement monitoring and evaluation, and staff development initiatives. Over the years, through progress responsibilities Victoria has consistently demonstrated strong expertise in WIC program operations, policy implementation, and employee training. She has played a key role in training both professional and paraprofessional staff, guiding new employee onboarding, and enhancing staff knowledge and competency in WIC federal and state policies. Victoria serves as Chief, Policy, and Public Affairs. Her responsibilities include the oversight of Policy and Training, Outreach, and Local Vendor Liaison activities.
Victoria’s leadership extends beyond her local responsibilities. She has served on the California WIC Association Board of Directors, held the role of Southern California Legislative Committee Co-Chair, and serves as a WIC Ambassador. Along with her contemporaries, she promotes the valuable public commitment to WIC, a social safety net program protecting vulnerable low-income women, infants, and children.
