Chief, WIC outreach and Provider Relations Unit
Maria commenced her tenure with our organization in 1988, assuming the role of supervisor at the Compton WIC Center. With a profound interest in nutrition’s profound impact on health and a steadfast commitment to serving underprivileged families, she brought with her a bachelor’s degree in dietetics and food administration from Cal State Long Beach.
Presently, Maria undertakes the pivotal responsibility of advancing the Lundquist WIC Program throughout South and Southeast Los Angeles. As the Chief of Outreach, her duties encompass cultivating partnerships and disseminating WIC Program updates to a network comprising 160 medical providers and over 400 community-based organizations.
Maria’s dedication extends to the education of low-income, eligible families about the WIC Program. Raised in a family of eight children by immigrant parents, instilled the values of hard work and community support by her father. Her unwavering passion for empowering families stems from her modest upbringing.
