Deputy Chief, Nutrition Education and Training

Gigi DeLaHaza holds the role of Deputy Chief of Nutrition and Education at the Lundquist WIC program, bringing a wealth of expertise and commitment to her position. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Loyola University Chicago in 2000, followed by the completion of her dietetic internship at Loyola University’s Didactic Program in 2002, earning her the title of Registered Dietitian (RD).

Driven by a profound belief in the profound impact of nutrition on overall health, Gigi embarked on a career in dietetics with a fervent desire to contribute to the prevention of nutrition-related diseases through education and counseling. Her dedication to community service commenced in 2003 at the Zion Health Department WIC Program in Illinois, where she initially served as a Nutritionist I before swiftly ascending to the role of Supervisor the same year.

Relocating to California in 2005, Gigi continued her career trajectory within the WIC program, assuming the position of Site Supervisor at the Lundquist WIC South Gate site from 2006 to 2008. Following a brief hiatus due to childcare responsibilities, she rejoined the organization in 2012 as an RD within the Special Nutrition Services department. Demonstrating her commitment to professional advancement, she was promoted to the role of Nutrition Education and Training Coordinator in December 2018, a testament to her exemplary leadership and dedication.

Continuing her pursuit of excellence, Gigi is currently enrolled in a Master of Public Administration program with a concentration in healthcare policy at California State University Dominguez Hills, under the mentorship of Marisela Montoya, the esteemed WIC director. This dedication to ongoing learning underscores Gigi’s unwavering commitment to making a meaningful impact in the field of nutrition and community health.
